Risk score and premium adjustment
A score from 0 to 100 per vessel, and the premium change it implies at renewal.
Risk score
Each vessel gets a risk score from 0 to 100 every day. Higher means riskier. The score is a base value plus the contribution of each driver, for example "Main engine bearing temperature: high". The drivers are listed next to the score in the app, so you can see why it moved.
| Score | Band |
|---|---|
| below 25 | Low risk |
| 25 to 49 | Moderate risk |
| 50 to 74 | Elevated risk |
| 75 and above | High risk |
Only the model service writes risk scores. No user can change one.
Premium adjustment
The score maps to a premium adjustment at renewal. A score of 52 is neutral.
adjustment % = (score − 52) × 0.36, limited to −12 % … +15 %, rounded to 0.1A negative number is a discount. Examples, computed by the same function the app uses:
| Risk score | Band | Premium adjustment |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | Low risk | −12 % |
| 20 | Low risk | −11.5 % |
| 34 | Moderate risk | −6.5 % |
| 52 | Elevated risk | 0 % |
| 70 | Elevated risk | +6.5 % |
| 90 | High risk | +13.7 % |
MV Aldersea in the demo scores 34, which gives −6.5 %.
Reviewing a proposal
A proposed adjustment has the status proposed. Someone with publish on Connected insurance accepts or declines it. The database records who reviewed it and when; the reviewer cannot be set to someone else.
Adjustments are always "subject to inspection and data validation" by the insurer. Pruva shows the number; the policy terms decide.
