Access levels

none, view, edit and publish, set per person and per module. Ship and shore are not split by vessel in this build.

Each person has one level for each module. The levels stack: edit includes everything view allows, and publish includes everything edit allows.

LevelWhat it allowsExamples
noneThe module does not exist for you. Its pages are hidden and the database returns no rows. The underwriter has none on predictive maintenance, so he sees no alerts
viewRead pages, charts and tables. Export what you see.A chief engineer reading the emissions ledger
editChange working data: acknowledge an alert, complete a job, draft a report, hold a container, issue a spare. The chief engineer on cameras, PMS and HSEQ
publishThe actions that commit the operator or are marked as leaving the workspace.Notify crew, submit a report, fund a disbursement account, award a quote

What needs publish

The full list, including the button label, is on each module page. The modules with at least one publish action are:

ModuleActions
Predictive maintenanceNotify crew. Dismiss a critical alert.
Emissions ledgerSubmit a report.
Connected insuranceAccept or decline a premium adjustment. Share a vessel with the insurer.
Certificates & documentsThe manifest names Mark a certificate renewed. This build has no button and no action rule for it.
Noon reportApprove a noon report.
Planned maintenancePostpone a job that is not a class item.
AI safety camerasRaise a work order, or mark the event for an HSEQ incident.
Cargo & containersConfirm a milestone. Set a document status.
Port calls & agencyApprove the proforma, fund it once, settle the final account.
ProcurementApprove a requisition. Award a quote.
Dry dockAward the yard. Approve a change order.
HSEQ & riskClose an incident, sign it, approve a risk assessment, approve or reject a change, review the change, close an audit finding.
VettingClose an observation.
FinanceRecord a payment. Post a journal.

Two approvals are edit until the amount crosses a line, and then they need publish as well. Approving a purchase order needs publish above $5,000. Approving a finance invoice needs publish at or above $10,000. The app and the database both check those limits.

Fleet map, voyage, chartering, inventory, crew and dashboards have no publish action. Voyage and chartering are placeholders. Crew has no write action at all.

Rules that always hold

  • Agents never hold publish. A request to grant it fails in the database.
  • Members cannot change anyone's access. Only owners and admins can, and admins cannot change owners.
  • Your level is capped by the module's entitlement. A locked module means none for everyone. In the Aurora Marine demo every module is bought.

Ship staff and shore staff are not scoped to a vessel list. Member has no vesselIds. A chief engineer with edit on planned maintenance can open every vessel’s jobs, not only his own ship. The same is true of a master with edit on the noon report.
